St. Bridget earns Exemplary Status from the Indiana Department of Education

August 2006 was the first time the Indiana State Board of Education will adopt category placements for all of the state's public and accredited nonpublic schools. St. Bridget earned an Exemplary status, which is the highest status available. Category placements are based on:

  • Percentage of all students who pass the state's English and math tests (averaged across subjects and grade levels).

  • Improvement in passing percentage of a "non-mobile cohort group of students" (students enrolled for a 70 percent of the school year [126 days].

  • Improvement ultimately is based on three-year rolling average. Initial category placements (in 2006) are based on a two-year average for elementary and middle schools and a one-year improvement measure for high schools.

St. Bridget Students Selected as Great Lakes Scholars

Great Lakes Scholars honors the best and brightest students in six states of the Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Over 2,000 schools submitted applications for their students and St. Bridget had 9 winners alone!

The Great Lakes Scholars program has been honoring students since 1998 who excel in the classroom, in the community, as leaders in extra-curricular, church or other outside interests, as well as on the athletic fields and courts. The names of each student who is recognized is put in a commemorative book and the school receives a complimentary certificate indicating participation and the number of students selected.
